Profhilo Treatments

heading

Profhilo is an injectable anti-ageing treatment made from hyaluronic acid to address skin that is losing its elasticity and firmness with age. It is injected just below the surface of the skin where it disperses quickly and reacts with the tissue to instantly boost hydration. This results in improved skin quality and skin hydration both in the dermis and epidermis, giving the skin a more youthful look.

FAQ

Profhilo is the first BDDE-free stabilised injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) based product for treating skin laxity.

With one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market (64mg / 2ml) it is not only boosting and hydrating the skin, but also remodels the ageing and sagging tissue.

Profhilo delivers great results as a treatment on its own or in combination with other aesthetics treatments currently on offer.

Profhilo is a stabilised product Profhilo lasts in the skin around 28 days. During this time the stimulation of 4 different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slow release of HA.

The stimulation results in significant tissue improvement. Therefore we cannot say that Profhilo is a skin booster as it also has a significant tightening / lifting effect on the tissue.

UNIQUE PRODUCT

There are many characteristics that make Profhilo unique from anything else available on the market right now. There is no BDDE content. It is thermally cross-linked generating stabilised hybrid co-operative complexes of H-HA and L-HA. Despite its high HA content, it has a low inflammatory profile coupled with pro-healing properties backed by clinical studies. To fully understand this new concept in anti-ageing medicine we have to take a look at the technology first.

In Profhilo, L-HA is released slowly from the HA hybrid complexes and therefore does not trigger the first inflammatory cytokines making it very biocompatible. It also increas¬es patient comfort during and after treatment and provides hydration to the skin especially in the epidermis – the Hydro effect.

H-HA in Profhilo provides a stable HA architecture in the dermis. This gives a volumetric effect – the Lift effect.

Another advantage of the stable co-operative hybrid complex when compared to H-HA and L-HA is the increase in the ex¬pression levels of type I and type III collagen in fibroblast and type IV and VII collagen in keratinocytes.

This results in improved skin quality and skin hydration both in the dermis and epidermis. There is also increased production of endogenous HA and elastin giving the skin a more youthful look.

The procedure only takes about 10 to 15 minutes. The area to be treated is marked out on your skin and, then using an extremely fine needle, the product is administered.

BAP TECHNIQUE

My Image

To maximise the diffusion in the malar and sub-malar areas:

• The BAP were specifically chosen in anatomically respective areas
• The dilution phenomenon of the product itself
• 5 injections per side
• Reduced pain (slow injection)
• Lower possibility of bruising or hematoma
• Reduced number of treatment sessions
• Greater patient compliance

Your skin may be slightly red around the treated area immediately after the procedure and, occasionally, slight bruising can occur but can generally be camouflaged with make-up the day after.
You will be given full post  treatment instructions to follow. It is especially important that, for four to six hours after treatment, you do not rub or massage the area, that you avoid strenuous exercise, hot baths, showers or saunas.
Profhilo® diffuses within the tissue after injection and over the period of 4 weeks after each injection, it stimulates 4 different types of collagen and elastin. You will start to see improvements after 4 weeks of the first treatment; however the best results are normally 8 weeks after the first session.

The results from Profhilo® treatments will most often last for up to six months, but results can differ from person to person.

You can resume normal activities, drive yourself home or return to work immediately after the treatment. Exercise should be avoided for 24 hours after the treatment, and the area should not be massaged for 24 hours.
Botox® has been used for over 20 years to treat facial wrinkles and its safety and efficacy has been shown in many clinical trials. In addition there have been no long term side effects reported from the use of Botox®. However, whilst uncommon, temporary adverse effects may arise from the treatment. Occasionally a small bruise may occur at the injection site – this can be covered with make-up. In very rare circumstances patients may experience heaviness or descent of the eyebrow or eyelid which may last a few weeks. Prior to your treatment the doctor will assess your risk of this event and therefore adjust your treatment accordingly.

Unfortunately, Botox® treatment from one clinic may not be exactly what you get at another. Even though Botulinum Toxin A (Botox®, Azzalure, Bocouture etc botox is a single patient use and all practitioners pay the same so always remember there is reasons why some treatments are cheaper than others so practitioners who follow the law cannot do at these cut prices.

Common side-effects of Profhilo are similar to other types of fillers and include mild bruising and swelling. Very rarely, side-effects can include allergic reaction, infection and nerve damage.

Avoid sun bathing, and extremes of heat or cold for 48 hours.  Any bruising may take a few days to appear, arnica can be helpful in clearing bruising. It is advisable to avoid aspirin and alcohol for 12-48 hours after treatment. Tenderness should settle as swelling and bruising goes down.
